FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Detroit, Michigan, July 7, 2021—

Defeat MSA Alliance and partnering charities in the MSA United Consortium have announced the first round of the 2021 seed-grant program.

Funded proposals will receive a one-year grant of up to $50,000 USD/$60,000 CDN.  Defeat MSA Alliance (US), Defeat MSA/Vaincre AMS (Canada) and their partnering charities in the MSA United Consortium have joined together in a common mission to stimulate new research into disease progression, underlying causes, and possible new treatments for Multiple System Atrophy. The funds set aside for this round have been earmarked by their donors for the Defeat MSA Alliance and Defeat MSA/Vaincre AMS 2021 Research Program.

A Letter of Intent (LOI) outlining a research proposal is requested by July 31, 2021, via the consortium’s interactive research platform at defeatmsa.smartsimple.com

Accepted applicants will be invited to submit a full proposal in the Fall. If you are a researcher or know of suitable researchers interested in possible funding for MSA related research, the Request for Proposals (RFP) details can be found here.

For the past year, the joint Defeat MSA Alliance and MSA United Consortium Research Program has been under development with the kind assistance of allied friends in the Parkinson’s, Lewy Body Dementia (LBD) and Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) communities and with help from our official affiliated partners. We offer both a passionate heart and a collaborative hand to any and all people that wish to walk with us on our journey. Hello Taylor-
Verdiperstat is not currently approved for use in the US. You cannot buy it or get it presently. If you register on our registry page under Research, we will provide information about research updates and whether Verdiperstat will be approved for use for patients with MSA.
